STOP PRESS!!!
THE main gate of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin was for several hours this morning besieged by the angry staff of the institute led by some of their union leaders preventing the entry of Issa Aremu, the out gone Director General.
Sources said that Aremu’s four year tenure had expired on Friday 16th May, 2025, with a specific instruction from the parent ministry allegedly directing him to hand over to the most senior Director at the institute, Ezekiel Ayorinde.
But Aremu allegedly stayed away from the office in his last day prompting his attempted entry today, Saturday, in an apparent mission aimed at moving out his luggage.
The enraged workers chanting many unprintable slogans against Aremu, alleging high handedness, bigotry and arrogance among others put the gate under key and lock, until the arrival to the scene of the Divisional Police Officer form Ganmo.
Sources said, attempts by Aremu to renew his appointment for second term, were vehemently opposed by the workers and the unions’ leaders of the institute promising chaotic situations at the centre.
