AHEAD of 2027 Governorship polls, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN may have been positioned as the next Governor of Kwara state.
But the permutation would only be feasible if the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) retains her position at the heart of the voters.
Sources disclosed to GlobalReportage that Fagbemi allegedly remains the most preferred candidate before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the plum job.
Tinubu, who is said to be strategizing ahead of the year 2027 would prefer a technocrat like Fagbemi who would deliver the state to him and consolidate on the works of his predecessors as the Governor.
The opinion polls favoured a shifting of the Governorship seat to Kwara North Senatorial District. But Fagbemi, a Prince of Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area (LGA) of the state falls to the South Senatorial District of the state.
According to sources, “the President prefers Fagbemi and is gradually positioning him as the next Governor of Kwara. When the issue of Kwara North Senatorial District was mentioned, the President felt for the people but may likely opt for the slot of the Deputy Governor for the people of the area.”
