A sudden tactical military operation is expected in Ifelodun Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara state to flush out terrorists that had in the last six months subjected residents of the area to untold hardships.
Sagbe, Alabe, Oreke-Oke, Oreke-Odo, Oke-Ode among other settlements in the area had been literally deserted for fear of attacks by the armed bandits terrorizing and kidnapping the residents.
According to the Chairman of the LGA, Mallam Femi Yusuf yesterday in a chat with The Guardian in Ilorin,”we are within the next few hours from now going to declare full scale war on these enemies of peace in all the affected areas of this council.
“We now have the authorities to move in heavier security equipment which cannot be disclosed for security reasons. We will smoke the terrorists out of their holes and restore the needed peace to the troubled areas.”
The Guardian checks disclosed that residents of the areas have fled their villages for adjoining towns. The development according to a security source is a healthy one for military operations as the terrorists would not be able to use them as “canon folders” in any gun duel with security forces.
The Chairman said none of the ravaged settlements was under the occupation of the terrorists. He praised the local vigilance groups for their gallantries warding off some of the attackers noting that peace would soon be restored to the areas after “the mother of all the operations we are planning.”
Yusuf urged residents of the council especially the landlords to expose to the appropriate quarters, strangers who may escape from the military operations for arrests and prosecutions.
