Gov AbdulRazaq Approves Recruitment of 2,600 Additional Forest Guards; Training to Begin This Week

Fafoluyi, in a chat yesterday in Ilorin said the new recruits would complement the efforts of the initially recruited 700 stationed in many strategic forests in Kwara to flush out the bandits in the state.

The training, to be conducted by officers and men of the 32 Mechanised Battalion of the Nigeria Army Sobi, may also cover strategic engagements on swampy forests in order to effectively cover the riverine areas of the state.

According to the Media aide, “Kwara State Governor has approved the recruitment of 2,600 additional forest guards as part of ongoing efforts to combat security challenges in Kwara North and South.

“The new recruits will join the 700 forest guards earlier engaged, who are already working alongside security agencies at the frontline to combat banditry and restore peace in affected communities.”

He added, “like their predecessors, the 2,600 new forest guards, whose training will begin this week, will undergo advanced military training, including the handling of sophisticated weapons and modern strategies for neutralizing threats on the battlefield.

“This renewed recruitment drive underscores the Governor’s commitment to strengthening security architecture across the state and ensuring that criminal elements are weeded out to restore lasting peace in Kwara.”
