THE Kwara State Police command has debunked the recent claims in some social media of the alleged kidnapped and murder of a female Police officer under the command.
According to the spokesperson of the command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi yesterday in a statement in Ilorin, the false news was intended to cause panic among the residents of the state urging them to disregard it.
Ejire-Adeyemi said, “the command is aware of recent news circulating on various social media platforms that a female police officer (No name) serving in Kwara State was kidnapped and murdered. These claims are entirely false, and deeply distressing to members of the public.
”The Kwara Police Command wishes to state unequivocally that: this report is not only false but also misleading, with the intent to cause panic in the state.
Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard this false/misleading information as there is no report of any female police officer missing or abducted in any division in the state.There is no Ogidi police Division in Kwara State.”
The Police Spokesperson added that the spread of such misinformation “is not only harmful to reputations but also distressing to the individuals and the people of Kwara State.”
For the officer the Command would sustain its maximum cooperation with other security agencies in the state to ensure more protection of lives and properties, prevention of crime and maintainance of peace.
She added, “we urge the public and media outlets to refrain from sharing unverified or sensationalized information that may cause unnecessary panic or damage the reputation of the state.
“The command under the leadership of CP Adekimi Ojo psc, mnips, remains committed to transparency and will provide further updates as necessary.
