MICHAEL Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) has commenced a Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Counselling in collaboration with its German development partner, GIZ.
The formal launch of the programme, held yesterday marked what the Director-General of the institute Issa Aremu described as a landmark achievement marking another milestone in the Institute’s ongoing efforts to strengthen labour relations and career development within the world of work.
Speaking at the event, Aremu reiterated the importance of partnerships, one of MINILS’ core values and a key focus of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that the Institute is intensifying collaboration with relevant national and international agencies in pursuit of its mandate.
He stressed that the programme aligned with the Federal Government’s broader agenda on job creation and increased access to education. He expressed appreciation to GIZ for partnering with MINILS on the new initiative. Besides, he encouraged the participants to demonstrate dedication and take full advantage of the opportunities the programme presents.
Earlier in his remarks, the Director and Head of the Academic and Distance Learning Programme, Dr. Sylvanus Adamade, explained that the new programme provided a solid foundation to further strengthen the degree programme currently run by the Institute in affiliation with the University of Ilorin.
He added that the nine-month programme would combine academic coursework with practical exposure, ensuring that participants gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
The launch underscored MINILS’ commitment to advancing labour education and equipping the Nigerian workforce with relevant skills that enhance employability and productivity.
